Huzzah!
It is that time of year when newly boxed crayons smelling of wax and fun hit the shelves at 25 cents for a box of 24.
Where new folders arrive in rainbow colors with fuzzy, adorable kitties and romping cartoon characters and funky abstract designs ripe for the picking.
Then pencils spring up in multi-packs so brightly colored that I itch to sharpen them all at once, that dusty smell of lead and wood shavings seeping from the pack before I've even opened it.
It is school supply buying season.
Rejoice, all ye fellow office supply enthusiasts.
For new post-it heaven is just around the corner. Having a child just makes that "getting ready for school" office supply buying itch just a little more legitimate.
But honestly? I'd be doing it anyway. I loved the start of school as a kid, for this very reason: buying brand new sharp crayons and cool writing folders reams of paper speaks of the promise of learning and writing and all things fun.
Tell me I'm not the only person out there who gets ecstatic just thinking about shopping for office supplies and new school supplies.
(Lovely photo via Special. Those crayons just pop right off that green, don't they?)
