Library Fun, Part The Second

This is a continuation from the photographic tour of the library at The Peanut's school.  Start with Part I if you want a full walk-through.

This first shot is of the smaller kids area.  I found the "abc" rug at Target and loved its bright colors.  Between that and the Sesame Street and Pooh Bear wall decals, this part of the room really jumps right out at the kids.

I hope they are going to like all of this.  It's always so hard to tell what is going to truly work and what is only going to be an "eh" moment.

But I'm really, really pleased with how colorful the wall decals make everything.  It is amazing how something that takes only a little bit of time to put up can make such an enormous difference in terms of the overall look and feel of the room.

This will be where the little ids get to sit for story time, so I wanted to be certain that this part of the room looked especially inviting for them.

There are also a couple of sitting areas designed to be little "reading nooks" for browsing time.  The first area is right as you enter the room to the right, and it has benches with cushions and some lighting that really makes the area cozy.  I also loved these little forest animal and tree decals, especially the little hedgehog:

The other nook is back in the opposite corner, and has a couple of beanbag chairs (I found them in a sturdy blue denim.  Yay!) and is themed in a similar way:

Over the reference desk, where kids will be standing to check out books, I went with a Dr. Seuss theme.  The primary colors and bold black outlining really pop right off the walls:

The one thing that was really a puzzler was the coke machine that had to stay in the room because it was wired specially just to be in the building.  The current library room used to be the teacher's lounge, so I've left a clear view of the machine from just about everywhere and will just keep an eye on it on library day.  In any case, it hit me to turn the machine into pop art (pun intended), so we topped it off with a Spiderman decal that looks like he's perched right on top of it -- it is seriously cool looking:

So, there you have it.  Here's hoping the kids like it tomorrow.  Am a little nervous, but I hope it is fun for all of them to take a peek into the new library.  The anticipation is killing me.  *g*
