Random Musings

Autumn approacheth.  Can you feel it, and not just because football season started already?

Some random thoughts from recent surfing and crap that life has thrown my way:

-- At what point did it become okay to fail to wear pants?  I mean come on, a long sleeved shirt does not a complete outfit make, does it? One big wind, and...whammo...the Emmy's red carpet could have been a peep show.  Mini-skirt I totally get -- but no skirt whatsoever, just a top, some sleeves and a prayer for no wind?  I'm stumped.

-- I need a new ear worm song. Stat. And I'm up for suggestions. Stuck in my brain now for three days running? Train's "Hey, Soul Sister."

--  This is just plain cool.  (YouTube)  Al Franken, funny guy...and cartographer.   Although his WV could use a little work.  I'm just saying.

-- I found the freezer recipe that I used when I was pregnant -- Four Cheese Stuffed Shells with Smoky Marinara.  I made 4 pans of these when I was close to my due date, so we'd have easy food to pull out of the freezer after The Peanut was born.  It was delish, but I lost my recipe for it when we moved.  Huzzah, it has been relocated.  Enjoy.

-- Marion Nestle on the FDA's inspection reports from the egg mess.  Beyond disgusting.  More here as well.  And Marion's translation of the mass-producer PR missive is hilariously snarky -- well done.

-- Julia Cameron's editor at Penguin has a fascinating series of interviews with her on their website.  Worth the watch if you like discussions on creative process on the whole. Or if you have ever done Artist's Way.

(Am thinking about going back through it myself, because it has been years and I'm fighting myself creatively again and I want to make that stop and just write, dammit.  Why oh why do I make this process so hard for myself?!?)

-- Peet's Major Dickason's Blend coffee?  Seriously yummy.  Bought some yesterday at the grocery store -- Mr. ReddHedd is out of town at a meeting and I thought I might need a super kick of coffee this morning, because I never sleep well when he's away.  I was right about not sleeping well, and am thrilled with this as a treat.  Yummmmmmmmm.

Thanks for sharing the Julia Cameron interviews -- a wonderful find! I've been through Artist's Way twice and also worked through Walking in this World with a group of very creative women. She truly understands the push/pull of the writing process. And thanks for the coffee, too!

You are very welcome. Good coffee is always appreciated at our house. *g* I loved those interviews -- just knew someone else would find them fascinating, too. Glad I found them.
