I am making an exception to my usual no publication of photos of The Peanut. Because this picture was just too cute.
Here we are backstage at this weekend's ballet recital. This is after her class had performed but before the final bows for everyone.
As you can tell, snacks featured prominently in the dressing room.
Getting to wear some makeup was hugely popular. Having her hair dragged back into a tight bun that was slathered in hair gel and hairspray? Not so much, but it did look lovely.
Our little ballerina is getting so big. How did that happen?
School finishes this week on Tuesday, and we are going for a momma/daughter mani-pedi as a surprise tomorrow. Somehow, we've spawned a girly-girl with just enough spunk to keep it interesting, and a huge science fiction fiend to boot. Boo yah!
How did we luck into that?
And I am so happy that the recital practice and dance weekend-o-rama is over, because I'm exhausted. As one of the moms of one of the older ballet troupe girls said to me backstage, "Only 11 more years of this for you, if you are lucky."
You know what? I'll take it.

ohmystars how she has grown.
i was talking with my oldest girl today -- she turns 33 this month and it dawned on me that she is now almost the same age i was when i got pregnant with her little sister. she's working on making me a grandma now.
yet, i can easily still remember her in her dance costumes, right around the same age the peanut is, as if it were only a few years ago and not decades.
She was so adorable, Suz. At the very end when they did their bows, she was the only one in her group left in her tutu, because the others had modern dance and were in that costume. So she had to take her bow all by herself -- and the whole audience was going "awwwwwwww" because there she was, teeny little stringbean that she is, doing her little curtsy on stage all alone. So cute. She absolutely loved it, even though she's still worn out from the practices and performances. I have a little ham on my hands, I'm afraid. (Mercifully, no stage fright, which is a really good thing, so I can't complain.)
Okay, this is way cute! Uffda. Suzanne, my little girl is now 43 and has a teen daughter. Definitely the gift that keeps on giving! Our stuff was more hooked into gymnastics and music. Gut-churning piano recitals. They are so darn cute and the years just fly by, don't they? Peanut is so lucky to have such a loving mom in her life, Ms. Christy. Yuppers.
