Smile, Anyone?

All smiles here this morning, because all the problems PJ was having were caused by a doggie ulcer.  (Who knew?!?)

As a dachshund, she's prone to issues with her back, and has had problems with a somewhat slipped disc for a few years now.  We have meds that we can give her to help ease her disc back into place and calm the inflammation, which we use as sparingly as possible.  And we try to minimize her jolting the back to prevent problems in the first place.

The last time she had a problem was a few weeks ago, and it turns out that the meds disrupted the good bacteria in her old doggie system.

Which led to a rampant case of ick.

So now?  She's on some more meds to clear this up, including some doggie "good bacteria" to help repopulate her little overwhelmed system with better digestive bacteria.  And we're putting a spoonful of pumpkin into her cooked hamburger and brown rice meals to firm things up, as it were.

Which is probably more than you needed to know about our geezer dachshund.  But I thought the spoonful of pumpkin trick might be helpful for anyone else whose doggie has the trots (and not in a good way).

Oh happy day, our doggie will most likely recover nicely from this.

Which leaves the rest of the crazy week helping with costumes for The Peanut's school play this weekend without feeling guilty about leaving the pooch at home.

Am thrilled to have "found" you again. Have missed you... and your writing.

Great news about PJ! (And loved "seeing" Fiona's party.)

Good to see you! I desperately needed a break from the political grind. Working 16-hour days and feeling like I was getting nowhere on the things that mattered most to me was wearing me out...and, worse, it was wearing on my stress levels which made my health more tenuous.

Thus, the break. But the writing continues, just in a more healthy format for me at the moment.

How are things with you?
