The Answer Is...

Got home from my appointment with my surgeon an hour or so ago. Made several phone calls, talked a lot. News is still sinking in here.

It is breast cancer.

It is an aggressive form, but estrogen/progesterone responsive, and we caught it early because I am anal retentive about getting all of my testing done.  So that is the better news about things, I suppose, that we have, in all likelihood pending a lumpectomy and lymph testing, caught this thing early enough that the world will not end as I know it.

And I am going to kick its ass...let there be no doubt on that score.  Because I have far too much to live for in this wonderful family of mine.  Far.  Too.  Much.  To let there be anything more than a knock down fight with this upstart.

Let me just say that without any hesitation..I choose the glass half full path, thank you.

Christy,
This article was written by one of my sister's very close friend about her breast cancer battle. I hope it can help you as well. (Cissy also had an extremely aggressive form of cancer - she had slipped her mammogram by 6 months and the doctors told her that it would not have been found if she had hit her regular schedule and would have been too late if she had just waited until the next regular scheduled time)

This article is also in the book "A Cup of Comfort" on breast cancer. The book is available thru Amazon and I think Barnes & Noble as well

Thanks everyone. We are hanging in here, and will hopefully know a lot more next week. Lots of appointments and tests in my future, but you know I'll be trying to get through them with a smile on my face if possible. All the love from all of you helps a lot, so thank you. :)

I have a friend who has been treating her BC with alternative methodologies, and she is doing well. If you want any info on this type of treatment, I can put you in touch with her. I know everyone has to do their own path, and so does she. But if you want the info, let me know. Barbara Grothus first initial last name at aol.com

Christy,

I got the news via FDL. You are a fighter and I want you to know that you have always been an inspiration to me.

My Peanut is 9. I've been referring to her that way since we shared the experience of seeing the world through their eyes.

God bless you. Jim Clausen

Hey lady,

So sorry to hear the news but so sure you will fight back.

My wise doc tells me to always remember that the difficult patient gets the better outcome. Now this does not mean do not follow doctor's orders but it does mean insist they go the extra mile for you in all ways. Us "nice girls" need to learn that lesson some times when we're the world of "Big Medicine"

Sending love and prayers.

Christy, you will fight and win this battle, and love your life while you do.

Christy, you don't know me personally but I already posted a comment on Firedoglake via Facebook, this is a supplement. Absolutely,
be VERY aggressive, ask questions, don't let anything get by without detailed explanation. As for "alternative therapies," well, I know you'r smaet enough to be the judge, but IMHO, most of that stuff is crap. Anyway though, I wish you the best.
