For Shame...Still

Know what name never got brought up by Leslie Stahl in last night's 60 Minutes interview with Jack Abramoff?

Everyone wave to Karl Rove

I could also add in an entire host of others.  Truly.  Just read my friend John Anderson's superb expose -- Follow the Money -- on the whole, sordid business.

Not that things are supremely cleaner in DC these days.  K Street is surely still alive, kicking, and still raking it in in the payola for more playola business that is American politics these days as I type here.  So why do these folks still make the bile rise in my throat?

Because I hate to see justice thwarted at the mid-level fish.  And Abramoff served the same stop-gap purpose for the cronies above him in the pecking order that Scooter Libby served.

And what does Leslie Stahl do with the time she gets with  Jack Abramoff?  She lets him parade his  best "I'd like to clean up Washington" song and dance routine, and then doesn't bother to probe beyond the surface level on any of the rest of the information that could have been found in any of the basic indictments of people charged and convicted.

Far be it for me to teach someone how to do their journalistic job and all, but couldn't at least one question have been asked point blank about the nexus between DeLay's office on the Hill, Abramoff's money machine for campaign cash, and Rove's political office at the White House?  Just one teeny, tiny little question?

Guess not.  SIGH
