New Kids Shows Funny For Grown-Ups, Too

Bless the people who make Phineas and Ferb.  And the new Looney Tunes Show as well.

Ever since we got lucky enough to have The Peanut, my world has been filled with cartoons of all sorts.  We've tried to edit out the truly awful or annoying ones (Barney, anyone?  *shudder*)  And while we've been moderately successful at keeping the truly odious ones off our television, it is not a foolproof system by any means.

Yesterday, we had to deal with a marathon of Dragonball Z Kai, for example.  Put any cartoon in anime style, and The Peanut loves it.  Even the poorly written, badly scripted, no real socially redeeming anything kinds, she is right there.

So we try to encourage the better shows where we can.  Especially the well written, amusing even for geezers shows that we can all enjoy together.

And that is where Phineas and Ferb come in -- there have to be parents in the writing mix on that show, there is no other explanation for its snide, snarky take on life in the absurdly amusing lane.

I now fully understand why my father encouraged my watching Bugs Bunny when I was a kid -- it was self-preservation along with some serious fun, all bundled into one Looney Tunes show.  Bless him.

As we were snuggled up yesterday, watching the semi-aquatic, egg-laying mammal of action do his secret agent thing, and I was giggling right along with the rest of the family, I realized that these are truly the moments I savor -- when we are all on the same page, enjoying the same moment of humor or joy or whatever, but doing it together.  So, thank you, Perry the Platypus, and the rest of the team behind your show, for my family moment of amusement yesterday evening.

Sometimes, being a parent can be seriously fun.
