RIP, Elizabeth Taylor

What can I say about Elizabeth Taylor that hasn't been said a thousand times over through the years?

She was a legend -- for her acting talents, her beauty, her temper, her ferocity and passion, for so many reasons, both public and private.

But it is in her heart and her love of her friend Rock Hudson that led her to speak up on AIDS at a time when so many avoided any connection to it where she truly shined. We should all be grateful for her courage on this, because it took enormous guts to stand up while others were slinking away.  She saved lives by making us all aware of the need for compassion rather than condemnation.
