And God said, "they'll be moving furniture into a parochial school today, I will open the heavens and a downpour will make things slow going and tedious."
And verily, it was so.
But we still managed to get half the furniture loaded into the truck and over to school before we were all too popped to fight the weather any longer.
So there are new desks and bookshelves and assorted other goodies at the school, a few of which have yet to be assigned to any particular room.
The rest of the furniture donated by Steptoe to St. Mary's? That will be moved over on Monday.
The movers from Evans Transfer are saints. They were sopping wet and still carrying heavy furniture up the front steps today.
Everyone pray for sunny weather on Monday. For all our sakes.
I'm exhausted, filthy from all the dust, and in need of a nap...or a very large cocktail. But I have to think that is all going to be worth it in the end.

Christy...whenever you are involved with a school like that, you just do and do and do! My kids went to a St. Joseph's school and for seven years I never had a minute. I loved it and made friends with the parents that are still friends today. It is all worthwhile. You are only at the beginning, it will get better! Can you imagine having your kids in like 2 and 3rd grade and finding out that the Church just down the street is burning down!!
It happened on a windy day in March long ago,but the kids could see the smoke at the school, but the nun kept them in school and then we all picked them up. Sad site to see the beautiful old gothic place burn to the ground. Today we have a beautiful modern church that we all love. Those days are the best so you enjoy them. Maureen Maloney
I hear you, Maureen -- it is a constant stream of things that need doing and I'm more than happy to help out where I can. The parents who tend to always chip in have become good friends and are all wonderful folks. And because it's pretty much always the same group of us, we catch up at every school event and volunteer opportunity, too.
Plus, it is good for Fi to see that helping out where you can is important. That is a life lesson I definitely want her to learn.
I always inspired by you, your views and attitude, again, thanks for this nice post.
