Berry Good Recipes

In the quest for better nutrition, the terms "fiber rich" and "nutrient dense" keep coming up over and over.

Hitting the sweet spot for both?  Berries.

They are loaded in fiber and antioxidants.  And they taste fab.  Plus, they are pretty low in calories, so you can fill up without filling out.

What's not to love?

I've been looking specifically for berry recipes that are healthy, fresh and not loaded down with processed gunk.  I've found quite a few, and thought that folks might enjoy them as well.

So, here goes:

-- Strawberry Bruschetta
-- Citrus-Infused Strawberries
-- Strawberry Topping
-- Strawberry, Avocado and Melon Salad

-- And my fave for breakfast:  cut up berries with yogurt (ff Greek plain drizzled with a little honey or some key lime flavored yogurt -- YUM!), sprinkled with some ground flaxseed for extra nutrition oomph.

i love to take freshly picked blackberries and freeze them. then, in the winter, i grab a handful or two of berries, heat them in a small saucepan with a dollop of honey and then drizzle the hot berries and berry juice over vanilla ice cream.

instant summer in the middle of winter but tastes just as great on a warm summer evening. the frozen berries are also great to let melt in your mouth on hot summer days. better for me than a frozen candy bar.

nothing perks up a plain jane garden salad faster than a couple different juicy berry varieties (i like blueberries and strawberries) tossed into the greens along with a few tangerine or tangelo slices.
