Rainy Day Packing

It's the first day of summer break, and we woke up to a rainy day.

A certain small person in the house is not amused.

It's going to be a packing day for us today.  It's probably good that the rain is constant, else I'd want to be out planting the last few things in the garden, too.

Which doesn't exactly get the suitcases filled, now does it?

The Peanut is going to grandma's house for a little over a week while Mr. ReddHedd and I take a late anniversary trip to New Orleans.

It's going to be a nice break for him, and for me?  As always, a lovely foodie excursion and a chance to see friends and listen to some awesome jazz to boot.  We have reservations at Commander's Palace, Broussard's, Besh's Steak House and Arnaud's (in the Jazz Room, which is less formal and lots more musically fun).

If you haven't been to New Orleans, you are really missing a treat.  It's like traveling to a whole new country but never having to use your passport.  We love it.  The exceptional food doesn't hurt at all.

Po'boys, beignets and cafe au lait?  Here we come...

Boo yah, I am almost packed. Good lord, I hate packing, even for a fun trip, the packing seems to draw out forever and I just know that I'm forgetting something. But I can buy it there, whatever it is, so this trip I'm vowing not to worry and just get it done.
